.Yesu ni Bwana (Jesus is Lord!)
God has and is doing great things in Kenya. VBS was a success! VBS 2005 at Deliverance Church Kahawa Sukari brought in 110 children. This year, God brought in many, many, MANY kids from throughout the estate, and we received 232 children in total for the week! Bwana Asifiwe! 8 children dedicated their lives to the Lord that week, which made this trip that much sweeter. We incorporated new teaching styles, ideas for worship, and logisitical training. However, the Kenyan people are the most warmest, caring, and affectionate people I've ever met! As I sift through the pictures, I relive one of the greatest experiences in my life. May God bless the people of Kahawa Sukari, Kenya, and Africa, and may the Gospel be told to those who haven't heard. Sponsors, stay tuned for a missions debrief letter. If you didn't send in a commitment form and still wish to receive a debrief letter, I'd be more than happy to send you one via snail mail, email, or hand-carried (if possible)!
Asante Sana (Thank you) again for partnering with me and for helping make this Vacational Bible School a GIANT success! My love and gratitude goes out to you all. Please take time and look through the thousands of pictures on Costco Photo Center and at the Kenya Introduction Video (shown at GrX Commissioning and during our introduction to Deliverance Church Kahawa Sukari) on YouTube.
There will be a GrX Team Kenya 2006 Missions Experience Presentation right after 2nd service on Sunday, October 8th, 2006. Sponsors please mark your calendars and come to the presentation and service too! We'd love to have you there. BE THERE OR BE SQUARE!
All 12 of us on our team are itching to go back if God makes it possible. If you want to be part of GrX Team Kenya 2007, please let me (mjxremy@gmail.com) or Maureen Chen (maureen.chen@grx.org) know. Tentative time frame has been set for July or August for 2 weeks with a 6 month team bonding and logistical preparation commitment.

Jambo!
So, I didn't really update as much as I should have...my apologies for that.
I'm leaving in 3 days! I'm very nervous, anxious and excited all at the same time. Please pray for God to get rid of my anxiousness and that he clears my mind while in Kenya from the busy and stressful things here in the Bay Area.
I've been feeling really bad that everyone else on my team is SO much more excited than me about this trip. Probably because everyone else is wokring now and Kenya is a good time away for them, whereas I have school RIGHT after I come back home. It feels like I have so much to take care of at home and that I have to get it all done before I go.
Please pray that God will use me in whatever way to serve him and that my spiritual walk will be all the more revived when I come back...
Lastly I want to thank all my supporters out there! Miranda, Gareth, Valerie, Katina, Auntie Gladys, Auntie Kathy and Uncle Warren, Auntie Sandy and Uncle Viet, Auntie Lynn and Uncle Josh, Peter Pedro Foo, Connie Kai Chan, Jeesung Nuna, Eric, Johnny, (Kai-Ma) Amy, Kerry, In Sung, Jacky, JoJo, Beth, Amy and Lisa Wu, and Lauren. (Sorry if I left you off). KEEP PRAYING FOR ME!!!!!

It's been awhile since I last posted. Yeah, I'm lazy. It's rather hot right now, and so it makes me wonder how the weather will be like in Africa. I was thinking about the importance of the Africa trip last night at the gym. There's statistics that say that 70% of Kenyans don't live past the age of 30. Isn't that crazy? I'm guessing it's probably largely due to the AIDS epidemic in Africa. Please pray that there is health awareness in Kenya and all over Africa, and more importantly that their hearts are softened to receive the gospel.
At our Kenya preparation meeting last night, Maureen (our Team Leader), told us that the likelihood of a child receiving Christ was 33%. I was thinking, "That's really low, it should go up as they get older since kids don't make big decisions like that." However, she went on to say that the likelihood of an adult accepting Christ DROPS to 6%! Dude, that's crazy low.
The low Christianity acceptance rate and Kenyan life expectancy rate creates a sense of urgency in reaching the children we'll be visiting, and even at home in San Jose!
Pray! Pray! Pray!
1. Team Unity: We're going to be traveling together two LONG plane rides (SFO > London, London > Kenya) and on LONG daily road trips from the airport, to our host's homes and to the church. We'll be around each other 24/7, so pray for minimal team conflict and that if there are any conflicts, that they're quickly resolved.
2. Health and Safety: Thankfully, Kahawa Suhkari is under the "Meningitis Belt," so we're at low risk of catching Meningitis. Most of us are going into Kenya with minimum immunizations because they get quite pricey. Pray that the malaria prescriptions don't cause too many side effects (depression and diarrhea with some medications).
3. Health Awareness and Softened Hearts in Kenya: As I stated earlier, 70% of Kenyans don't live past the age of 30. We need to reach the youth now. Pray for God to prepare the hearts of the Kenyan people we will be visiting.
4. Full Trust in God and Blessings in Preparation: With a little more than a month left before our trip, our full trust needs to be in God. We have many cool activities planned out for our trip, but please pray that we don't get lost in our tasks and that we remember to glorify God through our planning and preparation.
5. Blessings on House of Praise Deliverance Church's Childrens Ministry: The Children's ministry is still pretty "old school" over there with felt storyboards. Pray for God's blessings in giving them effective, fresh and creative programs for their Children's programs.
6. Communication with Kenyan People: Last year's trip suffered from a few communication problems. Pray for our ability to embrace each other's differences and for minimal miscommunication as we interact with the Kenyan people.
7. Financial and Prayer Support: I know God provides, but it's been really hard this past month to put my full trust in him since I like to be in control. It's SO encouraging to see commitment forms come in with prayer and financial support. I love it when you guys add little encouraging notes/letters for me and the team. Thank you so much for your continual support. Please remember to keep praying for us.

Thank you to all of you who have supported me through either prayer, financial support, or both! Praise God!
